How To Be Pretty 101 (JK)1:20 PM
Although I am not the beauty guru in my household (that award goes to my younger sister, Holly, who own literally pounds and pounds of makeup) I still think my everyday makeup routine is worth sharing. I didn't start wearing a ton of makeup until college, and even now I try to go barefaced as much as possible. Before I go any further, let me say that wearing tons of makeup is A-Okay! Along with that, wearing minimal makeup or none at all is awesome too!
My everyday makeup routine for summer really depends on what my plans are that day. This look is what I stick with on an average day of blogging and errand running.
Face: I start out with my e.l.f tinted moisturizer - it's perfect for summer because it gives me a hint of color but doesn't cake up on my face. Next I bring out my Maybeline Age Rewind under eye concealer, which doubles as a highlighter for the bridge of my nose, forehead, and cupids bow. I really like the dewy look for summer, so I only use Covergirl Tru Blend powder on my T-zone and under my eyes. I finish off my face with the TANtalizer bronze + highlighter duo from Lorac - starting with highlighter, and then sweeping bronzer below my cheekbones to contour my face. Sometimes I'll use bronzer to contour my nose as well. This is an optional step for me, but if I want to add more color to my face, I'll dust some of NYX Apricot blush across the apples of my cheeks.
Eyes: My eyes are my favorite part of my look (mainly because it includes my brows). I'm not a huge fan of eyeshadow unless I'm going out for the night, so I usually just prime my eyelids with the under eye concealer from Maybeline. I like to have a 60's inspired look with my eyeliner, so I'll use my NYX gel liner and my Anastasia #12 brush to apply it to my eyes. Because I have hooded eyelids, getting a perfect wing is pretty difficult, so I take my time with this. After finishing one eye, I use the leftover gel to do my brows. My natural hair color is very dark, so my brow hair is basically black. I've learned that using the black gel over the brown gel from Anastasia looks much better. If you guys want, I'll do a full brow tutorial in the future. After both of my eyes and brows are done, I apply Avon's Super Shock Max mascara + Too Faced Better than Sex mascara. Using both of these helps with fullness and length.
Lips: On a regular day, I'll use my eos lip balm and call it a day, but sometimes I like to go the extra mile. I'm really liking my Wet N Wild Lip liner in the shade wine. If you're looking for a Kylie Jenner inspired lip, like I usually am, start by over-lining the center of your bottom lip + your cupids bow. All other areas should not be over-lined, or you might look like a clown. Then, I take my Too Faced concealer and dab it by the bottom corners of my mouth. This gives off the impression that your lips are fuller than usual, Plus it keeps your lip color from running.
A makeup routine would be nothing without some quality products to clean and refresh your face after a long day. I use the Neutrogena cleansing wipes to remove all of my makeup, and spray some of my Tea Tree water from Lush before I go to sleep, and in the morning when I wake up.
Sometimes I'll switch up the products I use, but this is my general routine. What type of routine do you have for your makeup? Are there any products you recommend that you've been loving lately? Happy Tuesday, bloggers!
