Rhiannon Rewind: Summer Highlights

It's finally getting chilly in North Carolina, which means I can kiss summer goodbye and embrace all things fall/winter! I'm definitely one of those people that starts playing Christmas music on November 1st, and forgets about Thanksgiving until the Black Friday sales begin. But, before I break out my Christmas tree and garland, I'm going to look back on my wonderful summer and bask in some great memories. You, P&B reader, are lucky enough to come along with me.

Colorado: This summer was my first trip out west, and the fist time I had seen some of my cousins in 5 years. I decided to take the week before classes started and travel to Boulder - which turned out to be amazing. I wish I could have stayed longer, and I had such a wonderful time seeing my family. I can't thank them enough for giving me a great tour of the city and welcoming me with open arms! Some of my favorite parts were climbing the flatirons, getting voodoo donuts in Denver, and having margarita's on the rooftop with Christina.

Miami: Before Colorado, Jess and I traveled to Miami for a week. I really liked this trip because it was low key, relaxing, and in a beautiful area. Instead of a hotel, we rented a cute little home through Air B&B that was right across from a Whole Foods (which led to my first Whole Foods experience.. delicious but expensive). We went to South Beach, watched Jurassic Park at a dine-in theater, and had dinner with drag queens.

Pride: Unfortunately I did not attend a Pride event like planned, but same-sex marriage was legalize across the entire United States. This moment was pretty dang awesome, as a LGBTQ+ community member, and a Social Studies teacher. I'll be educating my students about that day for the rest of my life - being a part of history is cool, isn't it?

Senior Week: This was technically in May, during the last week of school, but I'll consider it a summer highlight because *shrug* why not? Even though I graduate this December, the rest of my Delta Zeta pledge class graduated in May - & I decided to participate in senior week with them. This week is one of my favorite times of the year. Younger sisters made us dinner, my family got me amazing gifts, and I got to say a formal goodbye to my chapter.

What summer memories did you make this year? Let me know in the comments what your favorite part of summer was!
